About Us

Joint Specialists© are a group of Orthopaedic Surgeons super-specialising in the care of a particular joint in the body. The aim is to bring together a team of surgeons exclusively dealing with either the shoulder, the hip or the knee. The surgeons bring with them the latest of techniques as well as more than 15 years of experience in treating Orthopaedic conditions. They have undergone rigorous training in UK, as well as fellowships abroad. Their research and educational work are very well published.

Along with the surgical expertise the clinic provides equally specialized Radiologists, Physiotherapists, Orthotists, anesthetists and a pain management expert. By bringing the experts together the clinic provides personalized holistic care for the patient with joint problems or Sports related injuries.

We believe that a lot of times, surgery is not the most appropriate treatment. If surgery is necessary, it should be tailored to the needs of the patient, using the most reliable technique which provides the best result in the shortest amount of time.

The consultants have their NHS practice based at either The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital or at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital is one of the four hospitals in the country, exclusively dedicated to care of Orthopaedic patients. It is a tertiary referral center and attracts patients from all over the country and abroad. The hospital has 36 consultant surgeons each super-specialized in a certain part of the body.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is part of the University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. It is the largest hospital in the region and the seat for The Major Trauma Centre. The Major Trauma Centre, one of the few in the country, treats patients with major injuries from around the region. It attracts a wide variety of simple and complex injures to the shoulder, hip and Knee. These injuries are treated by surgical teams super-specializing in their management. The hospital is also the home for the Royal Centre for Defense Medicine (RCDM) hence these surgeons treat a large number of major injuries and sports related injuries to soldiers. The hospital treats a large number of high demand athletes with sports related injuries.
